Now the entire system turns commercialize. This is the result of high demand and revolution of system of Ayurved. The paradigm shift in the practice give rise to involvement of new profession in the system that is ayurvedic pharmacist. The profession is quite noble, responsible, integrative and progressive in nature. It has tremendous scope to develop one’s career which starts from collection of raw materials to the marketing i.e. distributing the products to the end consumer.
The first pioneer institute of ayurvedic pharmacy was established in the year 1999 by Gujarat Ayurved University at its Jamnagar campus as a constituent college with a vision to establish, develop and explore the field of ayurvedic pharmacy. The Institute of Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Sciences is the first of its kind modern Age College offers comprehensive range of curriculum in ayurvedic pharmacy. The basic diploma called D.Pharm (Ayurved) imparts education to fulfill needs of retail and dispensing pharmacy. The degree course called B.Pharm (Ayurved) is more advance with contemporary modern science subjects and classical ayurvedic knowledge and skills. B.Pharm (Ayurved) is become integrative part of ayurvedic pharmacy. It caters skills pertaining to quality control and current GMP production in ayurvedic pharmacy.
The status and effort of the institute to develop the field of ayurvedic pharmacy is back by department of AYUSH, New Delhi. Since it is a new stream of profession, government has taken several measures to regularize it. It is also to be noted that institute enjoys a special path maker status. The institute of other states including Kerala, U.P., Bengal, Punjab and Tamilnadu following the pattern and syllabus of this pioneer institute.
The bright scope of the field is magnified by excellent placement, record of the students at multinational and national companies of ayurvedic pharmacies. It includes Dabur, Emami, Zandu, Baidynath, Charak, Ban labs, Vasu health care to name a few.
